The Cardano Student Hackathon in Nairobi is a 3-day innovation challenge scheduled for January 9–11, 2026, designed to introduce university students to the Cardano blockchain. Through workshops, mentorship, and team-based challenges, students will explore real-world problems and propose blockchain-based solutions using Cardano’s ecosystem.
Participants will gain foundational knowledge, collaborate with peers, and compete for prizes while developing ideas that can positively impact their communities. The event aims to foster local talent, build awareness of Cardano, and inspire the next generation of African blockchain builders, under the theme "Innovate for Development with Cardano."

Requirements for applying to Updev Challenge 4
The 4th edition of the Updev Challenge is open to any individual who meets the following criteria:
Must be currently enrolled in a university or recognized higher education institution in Kenya.
Between 18 and 30 years old at the time of application.
No prior experience with Cardano is required, but applicants must show strong motivation to learn and contribute to blockchain-based solutions.
Participants can register individually or as a team of up to 4 members. Team formation assistance will be provided for individual applicants.
Must be available for the full duration of the hackathon (January 7–9, 2026) in Nairobi.
All applicants must propose (or be ready to join) a project idea that addresses real-world development challenges using Cardano tools or concepts.
Ability to use a laptop, connect to internet tools, and participate in collaborative activities.
